High over Manhattan, a workman is busy on construction for the Empire State Building's new 217 foot multiple television tower, September 28, 1950. The tower, readied in December, increased the building's height to 1,467 feet. At left, background, is the 1,046 foot high Chrysler Building. In far back is the East River, and overlooking it, at right, is the new UN structure.
