You know I really think we need to kill the myth that you need to know your future career / your intended post-secondary major in high school. Also the myth that you need to know it while you’re attending post-secondary school. Because like... Credits are transferable. You might go to school for more than just your initial degree/diploma, especially if its an undergraduate degree. Trades programs and technical diplomas prepare you for one very specific job and even then you’ll probably change your mind about what specifically you want to do when you actually start experiencing the field you’ve chosen.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences (which, I should mention, I changed my specific stream from biomedical health sciences to population + community health in my 2nd year because I fucking hated chemistry!) and the only thing I have used it for is getting into a technical program to study to be an ultrasound tech. In the last 6 years, my career goals have gone from microbiologist to physical therapist to healthcare administration to OBGYN to neonatal nurse to RN to “i don’t know, x-ray or something?” to ultrasound tech. And beyond that, I joined this program 3 months ago wanting to do obstetrical/gynecological scanning and dreading cardiac scanning, and now I... want to do cardiac and really dislike pelvic exams (I haven’t even gotten to try obstetrics yet though so who knows!).
You WILL change your mind and your goals and you will have the flexibility you need to find something you’re happy with. You need to experience things before you really know what you want to do. Just... take a breath, follow one thing you like and then if you find something you like more, follow that. You’ll find your way eventually.
