On this date in 2019 we saw Almourol Castle which once belonged to the Knights Templar, located on a hill in the Tagus River in Portugal. We came back and explored the castle the following day.

On this day 2 years ago, we got to walk through Almourol Castle, and after it the monastery at Batalha, built at the command of the king after a great victory in 1385. He and the queen are buried in elaborate sepulchers inside. It was like something out of a fantasy story. And then we went on to a Roman city that’s being excavated.
