Love the cheeky expression on this elephant’s face! A lovely surviving detail from the murals of Ellora Cave 16, aka the Kailāśa Temple in Maharashtra, India. This Hindu cave temple, carved from a single massive rock in the 8th century, is the largest monolithic structure in the world.

To Hestia, Both First and Last

I began this project 6 months ago and it is finally finished. It would have been finished much sooner if it hadn't been for my move to South Carolina - but at long last I have completed this piece.

Every stitch was done individually (this can be more easily seen in the 3rd picture), as opposed to to each line being a single stitch. This was done both for how it made the final product look, and as an act of painstaking devotion.

I am so pleased with how it turned out; and I held a special offering ceremony last night - to present the finished product to Lady Hestia.

I am so grateful for the home that I have, and the life that I lead, and neither would be possible without the Great Goddess of Hearth and Home.
