“Thanks,” he called out to his Uber driver before shutting the car door behind him. Leonardo looked down at his phone screen, making sure he was at the right address. He took one step forward, when his phone rang. “Pronto,” he called through the phone, forgetting for a second that that wasn’t how Americans answered the phone. “Si, mamma, tutto be- Propio adesso sono ariva- Calmati, mamma! Ti chiamo dopo!” he yelled as he tried to talk over the panicked woman on the other end. Leo shook his head as he tucked the phone back into his pocket, a subtle smirk on this face. He reached into his jacket and picked a cigarette from its carton, placing it tightly between his lips. As he lit the opposite end, he noticed the front doors of the building swing open. Leo let out a muffled “hello”, looking away from the stranger and down at the ground.
