please god take my comic advice. from someone who has made several comics:

1. DO NOT start a comic without an intimate understanding of the plot. The whole one. Beginning, Middle, and End. ALL OF IT. You have to know what you will be doing in advance. Even three-panel joke comics should have some kind of plan. 

2. MAKE A SCRIPT. It doesn’t have to be fancy. My scripts are a god damn fucking MESS and all over the place.

looks like THIS:

Just write everything you have down. Dialogue, notes, anything. Get google docs and open it every time you have a thought about your story. Make a reference for yourself ESPECIALLY if you’re going to have a comic with dialogue.

3. PLAN YOUR PAGES IN ADVANCE. We call it thumbnailing. Sort the layout of the panels and words before you start drawing full pages.

All of these come down to PLANNING. It’s all in the preliminary work. I have like 100+ pages of shit behind world of light and it’s just a fancomic. You have to know what you’re going to do before you can do it.
