Fading to Dust
"I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU! I WILL FUCKING RIP OUT YOUR THROAT - AND I'LL PULL OUT YOUR SPINE AND CRUSH IT TO PIECES - YOU FUCKING HEAR ME - I WILL - " Viktor's words were choked out of him when he felt the sword pierce through his chest and it was as if time had stopped. Then the weapon was pulled out and everything fell too fast, Viktor dropping to the ground like a doll.
He tried to speak, but all he got was blood that spilled from his mouth. With a cough, he spat out the red liquid onto the ground. He rasped out, quietly but just loud enough for the murderer to hear.
"Anabelle...Nanami...you were just a kid, Flik told me, you were...just a damn kid...you're not. You're a monster. I will fucking...destroy you, you hear me? DESTROY YOU!" The shout echoed off the empty castle and Viktor couldn't read the king's expression. Then, the sound of boots walking away. Far away.
He willed himself to crawl over to where the child lay, a red blossom on her shirt like a beautiful flower. Viktor held her in his arms, the pain in his chest numbing but he held on. How could he contact Shu? Would they even come in time? Her life already gone and was replaced with an empty corpse. The smile, the voice, her laughter this morning...it was gone forever.
"Shh...it's okay, Nanami. It's okay. Viktor's got you. You'll be okay now, don't worry." He reassured her, brushing some of her bangs from her face.
"Riou is downstairs...he'll see you and...he'll be proud to have a sister like you. So brave...so young and...I'd be lying if I wasn't proud to. If only...you'd forgive me, forgive me for not saving you..." Viktor whispered, his hold gripping tighter.
"You were a brat, you were just a kid, but...I couldn't help but think of you as family. You were my family, you reminded me so much of the old North Window. So filled with optimism and happiness, it....everybody...you were the hope and light everybody fought for..."
It was getting dark.
"...Nanami, I can't...stay awake..."
... months belatedly.

Yo.
Nice weather we're having, huh?
[ It's cloudly and looks like it might rain, but it's clear for now. ]

Nina sat under the tree with a clearly unhappy expression on her face. People walked by, as she earned some strange looks, but today, the woman frankly couldn't care less. She waited patiently, the girl has been waiting since dawn actually but it seemed like either the person was avoiding her on purpose or avoiding her intentionally.
Either way, Nina was tired and hungry. But she waited.
With a small sigh, she rested her head upon her shoulder, her lazy gaze trailing on every passerby's shoes. Soon, she recognized the pair and jumped up almost too quickly that she fell.
With a smile, Nina took the girl's hands and held them with hers. The student exclaimed, "Hey, Nana! Where are you going?"
