what’s better than one dork? two dorks together & soft in love. i do really like the “two friends just grow closer & closer together & fall in love” & i think taibleck is a prime example for that to potentially happen, especially if oobleck was heavily involved while the girls were young.

Watching “Playing God.”

It reminds me so much of grad school.

I was told - so many times - that I wasn’t the best candidate (and we’re not talking to be a surgeon, here) because:

1. I was too timid

2. My economic background wasn’t right

3. Gender

4. My research wasn’t valuable

5. I didn’t work up to my potential

Tenured (2015)

So, wanted to go down my list, I added this one because I thought it would be charming, best way to describe it, like a ship slowly sinking, kept telling myself “hey, maybe it’s still getting its self warmed up?” Nah, just gets worse and worse.

This movie is about a terrible teacher (terrible as in incompetent) who’s wife is leaving him, and the school attendant or whatever is trying everything she can to get this dude fire, but she can’t really because this dude has tenure.

There were so many problems… Well this dude is pretty irredeemable, and of course our manic pixy dream girl sees the good in him, and tries to fix him (didn’t really look like that was pulled off well at all either) and our villain in this movie isn’t even someone we can hate, the main character isn’t likable at all. And like unless the movie was trying to like poke fun at how tenure for teachers can be abused, then really it’s just a bad movie. Really, our villain here is just trying to fire and incompetent teacher because the kids aren’t getting an education.

And I was hoping for the “school play” part of the plot to be an opportunity for our teacher character to get his shit together and rewrite (he’s a writer too) the three little pigs story and make it way better, to show everyone why he should stay, and to impress his wife who already is adamant about leaving him, and show her he isn’t a complete loser. But instead, what does he do? Makes the kids act out his love life to show his wife he realized he fucked up.

Ugh this movie was a train wreck. I foolishly thought “hey maybe this will be a charming comedy” I took the hit for you, skip it, you know unless you want an example of poor writing, maybe someone can watch this and make an exercise out if it by trying to rewrite this thing.
