In re: my note on the cartoon about GHW Bush protecting a pregnant woman_s stomach while leaving her and her child out in the rain. Why do you feel the need to be so rude to people with whom you agree? I misremembered the dates of what happened when I was ten years old. I edited my post and wrote a correction, but you preferred to ignore that. I do hope you never misspeak, because I can't see how you would avoid spending the rest of your lie castigating yourself.
If you did write a correction then I am sorry, BUT I didn’t go trawling your post for that kind of information. And as I also stated, it’s not just that you made that pretty entry level error. Like, I was about the same age at that time, and I STILL could remember the difference between Reagan and Bush.
You gave Bush Reagan’s presidency. That’s more than a small error.
But yes, if you corrected yourself that’s good. And yet people still believed you. Like right on point they didn’t bother to check either, they couldn’t tell the difference between one president and another. And that’s. That’s not good. That’s a level of bad education that speaks badly of us period.
And that’s why I was vitriolic in my response to you, in fact. As I said. You got something so simple so glaringly wrong as part of your presented attack against pro-lifers. You were so angry about how they have kept their position the same (which, as I stated, isn’t really that surprising.) that you made an error so simple, so basic...
That it made you, and by extension, US, look like we have no idea what we’re talking about.

I’m sorry, should I be nicer? Probably. I should be more compassionate. And the honest truth is that I’ve fucked up in the past, and we all do. So I commend that you corrected yourself and edited and that’s good on you, for what it’s worth. It shows signs of growth to be able to correct yourself, I applaud it. BUT.
Because I’ve made errors in the past, I make absolutely certain that I am correct before I make a statement. Not because I feel like I should castigate myself over every error, but because I for one don’t want to make a mistake and mislead people, or mislead myself.
And because I didn’t address it so far but it needs to be said?
I am pretty brusque towards about everyone. I’m not going to be nicer to my own side and only come down on the opposition. If people who agree with me fuck up, I’m going to fucking call them on it. I will NEVER turn a blind eye to problems just because they come from people who agree with me. It’s literally the WORST thing to do politically, because it not only allows misinformation to form and remain in your friends, it leaves a glaring hole for your opponents to point out and disregard your arguments. Like, for example, I doubt anyone who’s pro-life is going to feel any shame from a post about a political cartoon that claims that they don’t care about kids... When the people on that post can’t even get the president’s term right.
Like, seriously, that’s what hurts every damn argument for gun control, that most of the people arguing for it don’t know what laws already exist. It’s a BAD IMAGE FOR THE POSITION.

Minor quibble- I believe Demoman should have a dirk. Not only is it part of the traditional kilt kit, but also I can’t envision him passing up the opportunity to carry a weapon.
Ceremonial weapons were options for both Demo and Heavy, but I decided against them in order to present more elegant silhouettes. You’re probably right that he’d want to carry a dirk around, but let’s just say that I made him take it off when he posed for the picture.
