unpopular opinion:

functioning labels not inherent ableist. levels and support needs not either. just different ways of conceptualize differences in presentation. asd wide, varied experience. can't pin it into narrow categories. not bad to acknowledge it.

shouldn't force someone to use label they don't like, but if autistic person want call self low functioning, not ur place to say they wrong. just let everyone describe self however they want.

so as a female bisexual can I use the word dyke or not? I'm kind of confused because I've only seen it as a lesbian term and some people say only lesbians can use it?

Yes, you're absolutely allowed to reclaim dyke! ALL sapphics have that right because it's thrown at all of us.

I know you didn't ask this, but I also wanna tell you that you're allowed to call yourself butch and femme as well. A lot of people will claim they're "lesbian-exclusive terms," but that's not true and suuuuper ahistorical. Those terms have history in the overall sapphic community, not just the lesbian community. They also have a long history with trans/nonbinary and gender noncomforming people, specifically trans/nonbinary and GNC people of color. And other queer subcommunities have used butch and femme throughout the LGBTQ+ community's history. So yeah, butch and femme are labels ALL queer people can use! 💜

- The whole idea that we’re a bunch of transphobes/enbyphobes who also fetishize trans people pisses me tf off. I’m trans, ffs; I’m not fetishizing myself nor am I fetishizing any other fucking trans person. Being pan isn’t transphobic or enbyphobic, and I’m tired of being labeled as a disgusting transphobe just because people don’t understand what pan means. It’s so damn frustrating…

My nonbinary partner identifies as butch. I’m a pansexual women. Would I be allowed to identify as femme?

Yep! Butch and femme are terms for pretty much all queer people to use. The terms have history in the sapphic community. They also were a big part of trans/nonbinary and GNC communities of color. So you're 100% within your rights to claim the label femme as a pan woman 😊 And don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise!

Dyke, butch, and femme aren't and never have been lesbian-exclusive terms, and I will gladly and proudly die on this hill. All sapphics have the right to use them. QPOC, GNC people, and trans people also have a history of using butch and femme, too!

While I'm at it, corrective rape isn't a lesbian-exclusive term either, and I'm beyond tired of that argument.

hi! im an nblw who ISNT sapphic in the slightest, could you please not tag sapphic posts that dont even mention nonbinary people as nblw etc? theres sapphic nonbinary people of course, but the nblw tag is already filled to the brim with lesbian posts that have nothing to do with being nonbinary and just assumes nblw are aligned with womanhood and its really invalidating and misgendering to me... sorry and thank you!

I'm aware that NBLW ≠ sapphic nonbinary people. I AM a NBLW. However, this is a sapphic blog. I make posts for sapphics. And I say 'sapphic' because it's an all-encompassing term unlike WLW.

Anyway, some sapphics are NBLW, and those people are gonna look for posts for them in the sapphic tag and the NBLW tag. Therefore, if I make a post about sapphics, it get tagged as both NBLW and WLW as some sapphics are WLW as well. I don't use 'NB WLW' because not every nonbinary sapphic identifies as a WLW (ex. It makes me personally VERY dysphoric), and because I don't wanna use anything with a standalone 'nb' because for Black activists, that means non-Black, so it gets confusing. Plus, it makes me, as a Black enby, horribly uncomfortable to see people use 'nb' to mean 'nonbinary.'

Also, sapphic DOES NOT mean lesbian. Like, holy shit, not every word involving loving girls means 'lesbian.' The sapphic community does not revolve around lesbians. I'm not a lesbian; I would never call myself sapphic if it meant 'lesbian.'

If you don't wanna see my posts or posts about sapphics, blacklist the term 'sapphic.' But I'm not about to start tagging my stuff differently after ONE YEAR with NO PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW just because someone doesn't like that NBLW also includes sapphic NBLW. I'm not wrong or bad or whatever for tagging it that way. The term can literally be used that way. And I've made a point to say on this blog that anytime I talk about NBLW (save for this month because I've made posts for EVERYONE this month), it's about SAPPHIC NBLW.

Please stop sending me asks like this. I'm sorry your feelings are hurt. And I'm sorry it's misgendering to you. But the only solution I have for you is to blacklist me and the tag 'sapphic' so you don't see posts about sapphic nblw.
