What is something you wish you could have explored with Leopold but didn't have the time?
I’m sorry this is going to be so long but honestly there’s just so much I wish I had been able to see to fruition!
The secondary thing was probably the relationship between Leopold and Julius that Art and I planned out! I think the idea behind them was just really interesting, and a fun use of the amnesia mechanics Terramortis had! Leopold died the night before the pair were supposed to elope and get married, so from Julius’ perspective, Leopold ran away and abandoned them to a horrible life. Then, when they arrived in purgatory, they only remembered that they had been together, and they had both died before finding resolution, and got back together not remembering why their relationship ended. I found it so interestingly tragic to have these characters who find each other in purgatory and think they’re each others unfinished business. That being together again will let them pass on, and be happy together for eternity… only to learn that’s not the case. Their relationship isn’t the thing keeping them there, so it just turned into a slow festering resentment that they weren’t enough to make the other person truly happy, and had never been enough, which led to their super rough breakup and animosity when we meet them again in the server.
But honestly the main thing I’m sad we never got to see progress was the relationship between Leopold and Owen. Leo’s unfinished business was related to the unsolved disappearance of his younger sibling, who he was supposed to raise and take care of. He died thinking they were murdered, and never learned that they went on to live a full and happy life. Leo’s sibling grew up never knowing that Leopold was the one who had been murdered, and only knew that he went missing. And then, a century later, Leo finds Owen, this teenager who had been murdered, and who had never had that father figure Leo was supposed to be, and it gave Leopold the second chance to do what he was meant to. The end goal of leaving purgatory is reincarnation, and a major ending twist that would have been revealed was that Owen had always been the reincarnation of Leopold’s lost sibling. The relationship between Owen and his older brother was the universe giving Owen that second chance, only for him to once again be reunited with Leopold in purgatory after his death, where they each helped each other move on, solving their unfinished business as their relationship developed. Leopold would get the chance to be the parent he never was, bringing Owen back into his family. Two souls separated for a century before finding one another again, as they were always meant to. One of the planned endings we all discussed would even have seen Leopold, Julius, Daisy and Owen all reincarnated into new lives and a new family together! I would have loved to see that arc to completion, with the absolute gut punches @possiblyawesometmblr had in stall for Owen’s plot line and the pain Leopold would have gone through trying to help him. The happy ending that was waiting for them and the realisations throughout were something I turn around in my mind regularly haha
