‘what happened today?’ tone is immediately protective, stern. there’s a moment when the brother will give eddie a once over, going over sonia’s checklist in his head- no broken bones, no bruises, no bad cuts. this protectiveness has been present since he can remember, since their mother reminded him that daniel was older, and therefore responsible, for eddie. the 2 minutes different didn’t mean much to either of the twins, but danny knew that it was simply because sonia cared more about eddie than she cared about him. and that’s okay. danny cared more about eddie than he cared about himself, too.
anxiety does not come often to daniel. however, as words lingered between the two, danny felt his chest tighten a bit. say something, eddie, say something. what happened today? he takes a breath, than another, never taking his eyes from his brother. danny blinks. ‘are you okay, dude?’
