the only thing police in the US enforce is inequality.
the only thing police in the US do is enforce inequality.
this is why questions centered around the fact that defunding police won’t release enough funds to provide the necessary social support and change. bullshit. if you defund police, you defund all systematic protection of inequality and the entire money situation changes. full-stop.
defund police does not mean, find a different way to, let someone else, pay for policing. it means... make paying for violence and force illegal.
this is why questions that ask: what about private security? won’t the rich just pay for their own security forces ? right now poor and middle-class people are paying for the rich to have security forces.
defund the police means make the purchase of violent and forceful enforcement of anything, illegal.
invent a new system that allows the natural forces of the world - which provide massive equality via tiny, ever-changing, dynamic, moving pockets or bubbles of inequality - take over.
equality happens naturally without enforcement.
stop paying to purchase violence and force to protect inequality.
when i say defund police - that is what i mean.
if you think i am wrong? if you think that the police enforce something other than inequality. here is the most compelling evidence:
Survival of the Richest: The wealthy are plotting to leave us behind
Here is the critical quote if you don’t have time:
For all their wealth and power, they don’t believe they can affect the future.
Finally, the CEO of a brokerage house explained that he had nearly completed building his own underground bunker system and asked, “How do I maintain authority over my security force after the event?”
The Event. That was their euphemism for the environmental collapse, social unrest, nuclear explosion, unstoppable virus, or Mr. Robot hack that takes everything down.
This single question occupied us for the rest of the hour. They knew armed guards would be required to protect their compounds from the angry mobs. But how would they pay the guards once money was worthless? What would stop the guards from choosing their own leader? The billionaires considered using special combination locks on the food supply that only they knew. Or making guards wear disciplinary collars of some kind in return for their survival. Or maybe building robots to serve as guards and workers — if that technology could be developed in time.
tldr: the only thing the super rich want from technology that they do not already have is a compelling way to enforce inequality that keeps their own hides safe. full-stop.
the only thing the police enforce is inequality.
defund the police. make purchasing violent force for any reason illegal and see how much equality takes over.
the world - nature - the real world... is designed to provide for all - via a system that is fair, mostly equal, and generous.
inequality beyond the living moment of survival (as in predator and food prey) is almost non-existent in nature. there is a balance to the charts when comparing any... piece of the system, any plant, any creature, any feature of the environment.
inequality is a human invention. the sole function of the police (we invented) is to enforce it.
it’s so fucking exhausting and mean and unnecessary.
if you are afraid to defund the police: sit down and make a list of exactly, concretely, in terms of real concrete things, acts, settings you think would be compromised, or put at risk because of the lack of police.
look at that list very hard and figure out how everything on it you have solely as a result of violently enforced inequality.
this is where i am. this is what i am doing.
