I'm not really a man of faith, but occasionally I look for the wisdom of a higher being. A man who can shepherd me. I think of him, his wisdom and his beard. He guides me, such as he guides the tools he creates with. He is not an alpha man, but a beta man. And sometimes, when the terror hurts me, he'll be there, smiling, waiting.
So sometimes I ask myself, WWJD? (What would John Reid do?)

Robot Wars S10E03 Part 3: Throwdowns & Forefits
Robot Wars S10E03 Part 3: Throwdowns & Forefits
I had a rather horrific migraine yesterday, and I’m still somewhat feeling the effects of it today, so don’t expect me to write the most coherent article you’ve ever seen. Might also take me about 7 hours to finish it. Regardless, the show will go on. Although, having just seen Apex shit itself in half, I’m not sure what other surprises we could see in this episode that would top that. With…

Interlude: Favourite Robots Pt1: 10-6
Interlude: Favourite Robots Pt1: 10-6
To celebrate the return of the internet to my laptop, and because we have officially reached the half way point of the 7th wars recaps, I thought it would be nice to have a little interlude, split into a couple of parts because why not. If you wondered why I decided to go backwards with the recaps, I actually started watching Robot Wars quite late into its run, around about the 5th wars. Of…

Robot Review: Terrorhurtz (S09E01)
And we’re back with the Robot Reviews! If you were here last year then you know that these get horribly out of sync with the episode recaps, that’s just the way it is and until I gain the superhuman ability to multitask effectively, I’m afraid this is how it’s going to stay. Anyway Terrorhurtz. Real veterans of robot combat, Terrorhurtz are always there or there about, and their powerful double…

Robot Wars 2016 Heat A, group battle 1. Competitors: Kill-E-Crank-E, Nuts, Razer, and Terrorhurtz
Robot Wars 2016 - Heat 1 Predictions
So Robot Wars is back on tomorrow (yaaaaaaaay) and the website have revealed not only the heat lineups, but the battle structure and the competitor details as well. So, being an obsessive, of course I'm making (completely biased) predictions for the heats based on what I know about the robots. If they're wrong, don't blame me. If they're right, don't blame me either.
Also this is assuming that the first round battles are as is on the website, and the robots aren't randomly placed. From what I can tell so far, that is indeed the case. If it isn’t then all these predictions will be wrong, but hey, I do this for fun, so nyeh.
Anyway...
Group Battle 1 : Behemoth vs Bonk vs Carbide vs The General
Going with experience here and saying Behemoth has the driving skill to run rings round all of them; with a new scoop they could probably take out The General easily, plus Carbide if they manage to avoid the weapon. That said, I like the look of Carbide. It is apparently untested and these kinds of weapons can be unreliable, but Fluffy and Tombstone have proven that they can be very effective. The General will be up against it from all sides and I honestly don't think will stand a chance. Bonk might survive, but by the looks of that axe placement it won't get much damage in.
Behemoth and Carbide qualify
Group Battle 2 : Kill-E-Crank-E vs Nuts vs Razer vs Terrorhurtz
Oh, it's grudge match time. Razer beat Terrorhurtz in Series 6, and it was one of the most stylish and well-controlled robots of its time. Terrorhurtz since then has won two live tournaments and has caused many robots to rapidly upgrade themselves due to taking a battering. I don't think Kill-E-Crank-E has a chance here, with two highly effective veterans and a weapon that small. Nuts could be tricky though; I don't see it causing much damage with that...bizarre getup...but honestly it's going to make it very difficult for Razer to grab hold of it. Terrorhurtz however might get a few good whacks in, or they may go straight for Razer. Much though I enjoy Razer, I don't think it's going to last particularly long with all this new technology on show. And they do have a history of being unreliable, so one good hit from Terrorhurtz will probably disable them outright. A lot of ifs and buts here, of course, but I'm going to have to put my vote against the old favourite here.
Terrorhurtz and Nuts qualify
Head-to-Head 1: Behemoth vs Carbide
We could very well up with a Splinter vs Hypnodisc here, but honestly I think Behemoth can overpower Carbide on a driving level, and that scoop is titanium. Carbide can run both ways up, but if Behemoth plays their cards right they won't be able to attack effectively. That said, Behemoth have said they have weak side armour. Then again, they have pretty easily trounced Hypnodisc in the past, and they're very difficult to immobilise. I think luck will be on their side again here.
3 points Behemoth (KO)
Head-to-Head 2: Nuts vs Terrorhurtz
This will be a tough one for Terrorhurtz, though they will have faced Nuts before. Nuts doesn't have a tonne of armour and those wheels are very axe-able, but honestly I think they're just likely to bounce around all over the place. Those clusterbots will be hard to hit as well. That said, again I don't think they'll be very effective on the offensive front. It'll be a weird battle but I think Terrorhurtz will just about clinch it on control, even if it might not be able to finish Nuts off.
2 points Terrorhurtz (Judges)
Head-to-Head 3: Behemoth vs Nuts
Behemoth should easily have far more control over Nuts's bizarre shape here; they'll just be flinging it all around the arena. Surely no contest.
3 points Behemoth (KO)
Head-to-Head 4: Carbide vs Terrorhurtz
Very similar to Fluffy vs Terrorhurtz of Series 5, which Fluffy won, although I believe it didn't manage to completely immobilise the axe bot (I might be wrong). It's really going to come down to who can land the first blow. I'm going to ignore past precedent since I think Terrorhurtz has a slightly better area of effect with its weapon, and if it can knock Carbide down, it can pull off a KO.
3 points Terrorhurtz (KO)
Head-to-Head 5: Behemoth vs Terrorhurtz
Two powerhouses here. I'm not sure how much Terrorhurtz will be able to hit Behemoth given how tall the latter is, but I think it can definitely give it a good battering. That said, Behemoth's probably got a better drive. I think it'll be close but I think damage will clinch it for Terrorhurtz.
2 points Terrorhurtz (Judges)
Head-to-Head 6: Nuts vs Carbide
Dis gon be a slaughter. :D Seriously, unless Nuts can pull off something very clever this is an easy win for Carbide.
3 points Carbide (KO)
Heat Final: Behemoth (6 points) vs Terrorhurtz (7 points)
At this point Behemoth's going to be more cautious and Terrorhurtz is going to really let loose to win the heat. Gonna be a tricky battle and could go either way; both have been on the circuit for a while and probably know each other inside and out by now. I will go with my gut and say Terrorhurtz will just about clinch it again on a judges decision.
Heat Winner: Terrorhurtz
Of course, anything can happen. We shall see tomorrow. :D
