Hello! I'm a bisexual member (age 18) and I've REALLY been struggling with what exactly I'm supposed to do. I know it sounds silly to ask for advice on something this big, but do you guys date as a queer person (not being celibate)? I know that I love my Heavenly Father and want to do right but I'd really love to date women and I still have no idea what to do.
I don't think it's silly to ask for advice! Gathering information is necessary to confidently proceeding in your life.
So I'll answer for myself and then the other two can answer as they please.
I am a lesbian and I date women! I've been on a few dates with some lovely women (and some with some really wonderful men too but I decided that men were not who I was interested in dating) and I will date women again once this pandemic is over :) one day I may marry one, we'll see.
I also have two women life partners who I am not dating but with whom I am in a queer relationship and planning to spend my whole life. It is what we want and we are happy and that's what matters.
As far as what this means for my relationship with my Heavenly Father? Well, one day I asked Him when I was at my lowest, "Father, if I am not meant to love women why did you give me this love, and this certainly that love is a holy thing?" And He responded and said, "My daughter, I have given you this love and set you on this path to walk because it is my plan for you. You have always been meant for this love and this life. It is my gift to you my precious daughter go forth and do my work." And I've never looked back.
It is my firm testimony that Heavenly Father knows that I love women and that it has been part of who I have been ever since my spirit was organized from intelligence. He put me on this earth at this time and place when I could freely love and speak about my love and I will take these immeasurable gifts with gratitude and faith. I live my life knowing that it is a gift from my Father and that every moment where my heart and soul sing are moments where I have pleased Him. Such as when I went on my firat date with a woman.
My advice to You is to begin building a trusting relationship with our Father in Heaven. Notice His hand in your daily life. His touch that keeps you safe and in the ways that the universe is looking after you. Thank Him for those moments you notice and all of the times that you did not notice. And once you have a testimony of the personal love and attention that our Father has for you than follow the words of Matthew that Joseph Smith followed
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. (Matthew 7:7)
Ask. You will receive your answer but only if you ask with joy in your heart and the knowledge that whatever the answer is it is yours to do with what you will. But I personally have faith that that answer will be, go forth and love my child for I have gifted you with the ability to love in abundance.
As always these are my personal views. You have to come up with your own but when you do I hope that that are filled with love for yourself.
