This hit me right here yall. *pounds on my chest* I felt this. I've never felt so disgusted with this country then I have now at this point in my life (well, besides the fact that as a Black man this country continues disrespect, dehumanize, and serve injustice upon inequality towards Black folk, and as a Nigerian this country has banned my people from even traveling here and getting visas which include my family members). Trump is completely unqualified to handle a situation like this with the coronavirus and the same with Mike Pence who he assigned to deal with it.
First Trump has the nerve to call the coronavirus a "hoax" from the Democrats politicizing the virus and ignoring the information already uncovered by skilled doctors, scientists, and healthcare professionals (never mind the growing number of infections worldwide and completely disregard the amount of people who have already died from it. This ugly, orange moron knows everything apparently. More then professionals in their respective fields who actually went to school for this sort of thing).
Then, someone dies from it (the first recorded death from the Coronavirus in the states) in Washington, and he tries to downplay the severity of the situation. This is after he hires people that have the sole intent of controlling the narrative so it makes him look good for re-election purposes, not with the genuine intent of protecting the lives of American citizens and after he cut funds from the CDC to fund his racist wall, the military, and line his own pockets and his cronies.
Now this. I already had a scenario panned out in my mind where testing kits for the Coronavirus were distributed in limited numbers and priced so high that only the rich and wealthy would be able to afford them...out of the reach of communities that qould more than likely be disproportionately affected by it. And it sadly seems like it's becoming a reality.
Stay safe people. It looks like the piss poor leadership of the Trump adminstration is gonna turn something that should of been relatively manageable into a crisis that they will weaponize to create order out of chaos somehow. Don't be surprised if Trump uses this to postpone of cancel the 2020 elections indefinitely.
South Korea - that's so tiny - has 650 labs testing for the coronavirus, how many do we have?" asks Sujatha Rao, former federal health secretary. India has only 118 government laboratories and officials say 50 private labs will also be roped in. For a population of 1.3 billion, that is far from adequate. "India will have to identify many more labs, then the testing kits have to reach there, and technicians have to be trained. And getting the infrastructure ramped up will take time," Ms Rao says. You know the state of the healthcare facilities in the country? They are all bunched up in urban areas, there's very little facility in rural India. That will be a big challenge," she says.
