When someone just gets their superpowers and they want to test their limits but had no idea what consequences happen when they go past them.

Fire powers don't always mean fire resistance.

Darkvision or thermal vision not only nearly blinding a whumpee but overwhelming their brain as well.

(I have a homebrew magic system for dnd and when a caster goes past their limits for the day they start to lose chunks of their body by turning it into crystallized magic. Permanently lowering the health but increasing damage they can do. Making them a literal glass cannon. I have put a lot of not planning for the future magic users through that.)

Bonus points if they are bing forcibly trained to push limits and need to be saved before damage to the body is irreversible.
