I have been away for a long time and I have actually been off of hormones due to personal things occurring within my life. I actually stopped my hormone use around the end of November 2018 and was inconsistent with my shots for two months prior. I had experienced severe shot anxiety and was unable to continue injecting my weekly dose. I moved away from Richmond and lost access to my hormones. I was unemployed. I have experienced quite a lot in my personal life outside of my transition that has impacted my medical transition much more than anticipated previously. I had appointments that were cancelled, other medical visits for other issues that I had to pay for, and now here I am. I finally secured an appointment via telehealth with Planned Parenthood for getting back on my hormones. I had quite a long appointment, however I received both my prescription and my actual medication all within the same day. The other positive on top of this is that my medication required prior authorization and my insurance approved this and I was able to get my medication for free today. I pay for insurance through my job which does have trans inclusive healthcare to a degree, just quite a few hoops so I had figured I would pay out of pocket today but that was not required. I also am going on Gel which is the best part of the day because I do have severe anxiety regarding any form of injection or withdrawal via a needle and my body. I also do not care for the scar tissue. I have wanted to go on gel since the beginning but it was not a viable option for me due to cost compared to the injections and a lack of insurance inclusivity even in 2016. So here I am in 2020, after 2 years on, almost 2 years off, starting hormones once more. I have something to do daily that should add consistency to my routine and schedule, something to look forward to quite frankly. Here it is, May 5th 2020, 552020 vs 9282016 my two start dates. To second “chances” CHEERS! Daily updates will be coming. I will post some photos for before and after references later today after work. For anyone that comes across this as someone looking for education on transition please understand that this is my second time on hormones and many ftm characteristics that you develop through hormone use typically stay to a degree. I still grow facial hair and have a deeper voice than my true pre transition which is prior to September of 2016. However muscle growth/gain, labido, bottom growth, and fat redistribution have all seemed to disappear as compared to being on my hormones. This is my first time using gel though so this will be interesting, if you want injection content or my first go at medical transition just take a look at my older posts.
