Ambrose hates his cousin Tetheus. As a child he watched Tetheus use his magic, glamor, to have his ways...he was convinced, eventually, that even if Tetheus had broken the neck of a puppy - he had only needed to look with huge tearful eyes at his parents to avoid punishment...People forgave Tetheus no matter how grave his crime....

Meanwhile, Tetheus loves Ambrose because Ambrose is the only one who has a resistance to the glamor...So whilst Tetheus hates it when he does not get it his way- he is drawn to Ambrose who resists his every attempt at charm...Because Ambrose is the only HONEST individual he knows. The only one who will not swallow every thing that leaves Tetheus mouth...
