Once upon a time, there was a small middle school in rural Texas. Attending this middle school were three boys. They liked anime like Yu-Gi-Oh and Naruto and Kenshin. But their school library only carried one manga for reasons known to no one.

Dragon Knights.

This did not deter our young weebs, for they each rented it in turn and devoured every volume. Except for like, one or two that I'm pretty sure somebody stole the year prior. And they only had up to . . . I wanna say 10? 8? It was 06, you get it.

Anyway, their playground time was filled with adventure as they came to kin their favorite characters (as you do) and soon their nicknames spread across the school and all knew of Rath, Thatz, and . . . Ringleys. Because he wore a cool jacket.

Years passed and they separated, until their Ringleys discovered that a tumblr blog still talked about that faded childhood memory.

It seems like there was some mysterious agreement between Tokyopop and random libraries in the mid-2000's because why is this such a common origin story?
