Yknow what boggels my brain? The fact that out there in the wide open realms of the internet are CONSERVATIVE people who write FANFICTION.
I know this sounds crazy but lets look at logistics, right?
There are so many fanfictions about so many things and people. Written by such a wide variety of people.
There has to be at least a few people on like idk Ao3 who writes just straight romance fanfic.
And don't get me wrong thats like fine if thats what ur into and thats what makes u happy
But like what do they do?? When they come across like idk a/b/o au piss kink wlw stuff?? What fandoms do they join? Are they among us? Just ignoring the queerness and neurodivergency of the fanfiction space? Just ignoring it??
Or do they send hate and I've just managed to avoid seeing it??
On that note how does fanfiction impact the lives of those conservative people?
Bc as someone who’s been there, fanfiction and fandom spaces really really changed my perspective not only on my own neurodivergency but also my queerness and it’s been such a big contribution to my healing
How many young teenagers find themselves in the writings of people they will likely never meet irl? How many lives has fanfiction altered?
What impact does fandom rly have? As a media form, how impactful is fandom and how impactful will it become?
