HMMM... do ya think Tev was already darigan when he and Garett first met, or did Gar know him previously and then have to deal with him being painted?? I wonder what Gar's reaction would be in either scenario, the second seems like it'd be a little harder to deal with to be honest!
I dunno! Tev's your pet--you said he was from KI, but it's not impossible to be born Darigan. The gene was created some 300 years ago and the whole time travel ordeal probably didn't entirely knock it from existence--it was rare, but possible. Some pirates probably contracted it on a voyage and got it and 300 years later, Tevel's born with it too. /shrugBUT UH that's not really my decision to make, man! /;o;/
If he met him while he was Darigan, he'd probably growl at him and be uneasy--like, cat with its fur up and back arched uneasy. But with a bit more aggravation. He wouldn't've picked a fight or anything, though, maybe called him some names and acted nervous and afraid and angry at worst. If Tevel didn't get angry that he was treating him that way or attack him or anything, he might calm down a bit and smell him or something--then reason that he "smells like a demon" but he doesn't "act like a demon" or something like that so he'd be more okay. Maybe he'd ask Tevel to playfight with him and if he reasoned he "fought fairly" he'd try and put aside that he was Darigan and everything.
If he knew him before and then he painted himself, he'd be upset and feel kind of betrayed because 'darigans are evil' and he 'doesn't want his friends to be evil.' Of course Tevel probably has no idea what he's talking about, but Gaett just keeps getting upset about it for a while and maybe ran off for several weeks~years(and, in the meantime, went to Moltara and became magma?) Like, his sorta-kinda home country was destroyed by darigans so he wouldn't take what he assumed to be an intentionally offensive action so kindly. Of course, eventually he'd either decide he missed tevel too much or observe tevel for a while and reason 'nope, still tevel' or something, and go try and find him and make up. (and maybe explain what the darigans did and why he got so upset if tevel didn't already know.)
But, yeah, if he painted himself it'd feel kind of like betrayal, whereas if he were always that way he wouldn't have a different Tevel to view as 'better' or something. He'd've just been a stranger who happened to be Darigan in color but turned out to be a cool guy. ;3;
