Tell me this lawmaker has not been an educator and is trying to either distract you from more dire politics via culture war bills. I'll start:

1. As a former teacher in Texas that taught within the last two years, nobody is letting a student use a litterbox. Yes, kids pretend to be animals sometimes to an intense matter. No, they have not requested such a thing and if they have the professionals in the classroom have said "no, use the bathroom like everyone else."

2. "Ban presenting as anything other than human" what you're gonna start arresting the horse girls or the kids playing Warrior Cats at recess? Be so fr right now.

Anyways this politician is probably either trying to distract Texans from Abbott's schemes or trying to "aid" the current push from Abbott and his cronies to privatize education so he and his wife can get a kickback (his wife is on the board of a private school) by painting public schools as lawless pits where students are "indoctrinated" by liberal agendas. Bitch about it, but don't let it distract you from what's really going on.

hey all, I just wanted to share this information around. I'm not sure if it'll go far, but hopefully it gets to people that need to see it.

ICE is doing raids in schools in the state of Texas. If you work in a school, especially if you are a teacher, you are legally allowed to refuse to cooperate unless they have a warrant.

Lock your door and do not let ICE or anyone claiming to be an officer in without a signed warrant. Know your rights. They have no legal right to enter your classroom, school, or property without a warrant signed by a judge. If you are a teacher, lock your door and call for an administrator.

This also applies to individuals. If ICE, anyone claiming to be ICE, or any other officer is knocking at your door, ask to see a warrant. Do not let them in without a warrant. They have no legal grounds or authority without one.

I hope this can get to teachers working in Texas and anyone else who needs to know this. Stay safe.

if yall have time, it would mean a lot to email these 3 emails (theres a script, too!). texas governor greg abbott has mandated public schools reopen in the fall or lose funding, basically. if u can, call and leave messages.

health professionals have stated anywhere below a 10% infection rate is not good; abbott has said himself earlier this year that anywhere below 6% is dangerous. we havent been above 6% since before may.

a LOT of people will like, die because of this. not even just teachers that aren't immunocompromised--students, their families, their friends, EVERYONE. think of how many levels of separation you are from someone who is regularly in school. a lot of us dont have many; friends' parents, grandparents, etc. even if you dont, you probably do have a lot more people in your life who indirectly or directly are in schools. the states infection rate is higher now than it was when schools shut down in march.

McCarthyite Censorship Is Seeping Into Our Schools

Guys.

That third one down is at MY old university.

That's pond is what we call the "the Plinth". I just stumbled upon this post on my dash on Facebook and THIS was there. The feelings of surprise and anger I had were personal because this was my home and I had *just* missed being there. So I reposted that picture for my friends - who all still have ties to UTD - and asked them what happened... Well apparently this.

I should tell you that "College Republicans" are NOT republicans. At UTD it is a group reknown for its extreme right wing views and actions. Its a thinly veiled hated group under the insulting guise of a political club. We actually had to form TWO "republican" school organizations because during Trump's campaign in 2016 there was a MASSIVE tear between members of the original organization. Real* republicans who recognized Trump was nothing more than a dispicable juvenile using vitriol to incite fear and hatred could not support him as the "repuplican" canidate. This split amongst the original republican group was a microcosm of what happened to republicans around the nation.

And so those who agreed with his insanity formed their own group and called it "College Republicans". But they're mostly white nationalists and nazi sympathizers. They're facebook page is horrendously full of innacurate facts that are supposed to support outdated sexist, racist, and generally xenophobic perceptions. When the club bulletin board for the Muslim Student Association was vandalized, and when a Quran was found flushed in a toilet - every student knew it must have either been a member of the College Republicans or someone they had met/known. The club became basically an island for those sorts of people too lost in their own hate and superstitions to hold dialouge with anyone else.

Why do I mention all this?

Just to enphasize what party of people this boy is politically attractive to.

He doesn't go to school here (thank god) but as someone who did I can garuntee that if he wanted an actual conversation and to listen to other viewpoints there are so many organizations and rescources for that. I helped lead one. But he has a reputation for using slurs for transgender people and being generally spiteful and condescending to people he thinks of as beneath him. Its clear he isn't truly interested in expanding his view or understanding other's, but is trying to set up an arena where he can cement his own opinions and feel intellectually superior against others.

That's not dialouge. That's a fight in the bullpit.
