Wildflowers bloom abundantly in Texas and the most famous one is the Bluebonnet, lupinus texensis, pictured here in a close up, which is also the state flower of Texas. When I was visiting the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center a little while ago, they just started to open but they should bloom in masses now. If you have the chance I would highly recommend a visit there. The Center is very beautifully done and you learn a lot about the native Texan wildflowers and have plenty of opportunities to see them in a natural habitat.
