Doug Sahm "Beautiful Texas Sunshine" RIYL: Freddy Fender, Augie Meyers, Gram Parsons, Bob Wills, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown 

Doug Sahm, from deep in the heart of San Antonio, Texas, is a legendary country, Tejano, blues, and americana musician around these parts. I really have to thank my dad for having Sahm (and associated acts) playing in the car when I was growing up. His music is so defining of Texas culture and sound, creating a blend of musical gumbo, ageless and perfect for all regions. 

Featured above, is Beautiful Texas Sunshine, a track from his 1974 album Groover's Paradise. Though Doug died in 1999, his son, Shawn Sahm, continues to lead the band (including two surviving members of the Texas Tornados), carrying on his legacy.

Fun Fact: In December 1952, when Sahm was 11 years old, he played on stage with Hank Williams Sr. in Austin, Texas. This would turn out to be Williams' last show, as he died on New Year's Day in 1953 while on the road to his next gig in Ohio.
