Crying over Chapter 52 of Dungeon Meshi.
A key part about dungeon meshi is the act of breaking bread or eating with the group. Eating with people helps establish bonds both IRL and is the main form of how the party connects to everyone. It’s how the human siblings make friends and is part of the reason Marcelle cries when she realizes how much Falin wanted to be friends by sharing food with her.
So Ch 52 reveals that to save dearest Falin the party literally needs to consume the monstrous part of Falin--there’s a throw away line about You Are What You Eat, so the party willingly becoming monsters to save Falin is Very Good, but also not the point of my tears.
To finish all the monster meat in one go, the party has to find enough people to eat the flesh before it regenerates and Laius thinks of all the people he knows who could help, but he doubts he could convince them plus they’re missing a large group.
But despite these external and interpersonal conflicts and hidden agendas... All of the past chapters and arcs have been leading up to this moment. The party has broken bread with everyone. The party has already put down the framework for the power of friendship. And with that power of friendship they can save Falin and /even then/ further their bonds by breaking bread with the rest of the monster meat.
I can't believe Jeanne Alter became a servant because Evil Santa flirted with her.
I mean I can but that's besides the point.
Me at myself: why can't I get notes on my art
*never posts art ever*
Me: it is a mystery
If you don’t get emotional if an anime uses the power of friendship to beat the big bad while the OP theme plays... who hurt you?
