Day 23 - Firefly
Random Binder facts:
First up, our boy Cliffjumper.
Cliff here was far more G1 inspired than the crew behind Prime ultimately made him. While I'm happy with the snippet of a personality we got for Cliffjumper in Prime....it's odd that they made him so upbeat and bright before killing him as opposed to his G1 lifted aggression and confrontational behavior in the Binder. Given the sunny dispositions of Cliff and Smokescreen in Prime and how both were abused by the writers, however, I think I can see just why such a change was made.
At least I know that his vehicle mode was changed because of The Rock voicing him.
For five minutes.....
I must say, I like the added nuance to Ironhide's history. Him having friends who chose to join the Decepticons adds a lot of depth to his character - and gives me basis for his and Breakdown's beef in my stories.
I also like how they characterized him: Someone who's aggressive and doesn't always agree with Optimus, but who is still loyal and does what he's told, more or less. I do kinda dig his design as well. It's a nice hybrid of his G1 and Bayverse versions, though I feel the cannons should replace his fists when he activates them.
And now, for the real kicker....Jazz's bio.
"Though he dies on Earth, Ratchet was able to later restore him to life."
..............................................................................................................................
Yeah. The excuse that Ironhide couldn't be used in Prime due to his scheduled death is nonsense.
I love the detail that Jazz is an A-Tier character, as well as the fact that he loves Earth so much. Seriously, I feel he would have been a better "kid appeal" character than Bee in Prime. I do wonder what they mean by Jazz being a "chameleon", though....
Jazz being a sociologist and having a photographic memory is awesome, not gonna lie.
Dang it, I gotta move on before I feel too robbed of having him in place of Bee in Prime.
Okay, Prowl sounds absolutely rad in the Binder. I like that he's got "ninja skills", but isn't actually a ninja, nor particularly superb in either martial art; it makes his sudden Eastern influence from Animated more palatable. Personally, I'd like him to be built a little thicker in the art, but it's still acceptable since this was a placeholder of sorts. The nightsticks are wicked, though I would prefer that to be his melee weapon only and not throwing stars in addition to them.
Despite his B-Tier status, I like to think he would have had good spotlight episodes at times with Miko. For one, she could probably have helped him refine his skills, and for another, I think she would have helped him to loosen up.
And now I have visions of Ironhide and Prowl, when at loggerheads, finding themselves calling a truce/agreement where Miko is involved....XD
My boy Superion having a rifle is awesome and now mandatory. No excuses or exceptions. Give my Combiner boy a rifle, Hasbro!!!!
What really intrigues me is that they stated Airazor replaces Slingshot in the Binder (Firefly is just an alternate name for Fireflight.) While I'm offended on behalf of my guy Slingshot, I have to wonder if Airazor would have been female here. I know it's unlikely, given that I'm 99% sure Superion was added during the Combiner Wars toyline/phase (in part because they outright say "Combiner Wars" in the bio), and the link to that "Airazor" on TFWiki is male, but still....a girl can dream, right?
Sideswipe! My guy! You made it to B-Tier, I'm so proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, I love his alt-mode, and the merging of his G1 and Bayverse designs is growing on me. I also love that he's the best of both Amalgamous and Liege, even though I'm still grappling with how the deuce Polarities are supposed to work.
I'm fascinated that the Binder states that he and Sunstreaker were Decepticons originally. From my understanding, this would have been a first in TF media. I'm curious too if Sunstreaker joined the Autobots or not like Sideswipe did. If he didn't, then I'm sure that was to open up possibilities further down the line. And we really need to bring back his jet pack. Come on people, let him and Sunstreaker perform Jet Judo again!!!
Well, that's my current splurge of thoughts on what I've found from the Binder of Revelation. There's more, but I'll tackle them in another post, and likely a few others that I'll eventually give more attention.
See you around, folks!
yo soooo a random question I want to place before you...
which of the aerialbots do you think would be most likely to hire a bounty hunter/hitman to take out a decepticon AFTER the war?
FOr the sake of argument we'll say they wronged them in some way by killing someone close to them (maybe even another member of the aerial bots) or maybe they just have a regular old grudge. (example: maybe one of the stunticons or something) Reason they dont just go after them themselves is that its after the war, theyre in an area out of their jurisdiction, etc etc.
I cant really decide on my own so I wanted to get some feedback from you, the fandom.
For the sake of simplicity I'm limiting it to just hte original 5 Aerialbots. Heres a poll for an easy to see visual consensus, though I totally encourage you all to discuss the subject.
Which of the Aerialbots is most likely to hire a bounty hunter/hitman?
Silverbolt
Air Raid
Fireflight (aka Firefly/Firestrike)
Skydive
Slingshot
I'm just curious about the results
Another Aerialbolt poll!
How likely is each Aerialbot to be DEAD by the end of the war? (Most voted is most likely. Least voted is least likely. Who lives? Who dies? You decide!)
Silverbolt
Air Raid
Fireflight (Firefly/Firestrike)
Skydive
Slingshot
I wanna see the obituary
