I've been working on a new fic for the @tf-bigbang this year, and the time has finally come for me to be able to give out a little snippet for the masses!

Warning: Planetary impact imminent.
Warning: Thrusters at fifteen percent efficiency.
Warning: Shields at twenty percent efficiency.
They were in for a bumpy landing.
Chase tapped a series of buttons, “Mayday, mayday. This is Rescue Force Sigma Seventeen, we’ve taken on significant damage and are being forced to make an emergency landing. I repeat, this is Rescue Force Sigma Seventeen. If you can hear us, Command. We are being forced to make an emergency landing—”
Chase gasped as something else in the planet’s atmosphere smashed into the window, and he saw a small chip appear.
This was not going well. He needed to at least get the ship into a stabilized entry path if nothing else. “Blades, set the thrusters to shift our angle three degrees!”
“O-Okay, you’re the boss here…! Shifting angle!”
The ship creaked loudly and ominously as it followed orders, the red glow outside beginning to become brighter and hotter.
More alarms rang out, whines and clicks, and Chase’s servos shook as they gripped the controls tightly, optics staring forward.
“Good. Now get in my stasis capsule and close it tight!”
“What!? No! I’m not gonna just leave you-”
“I have to guide the ship down, Blades!” Chase’s brows furrowed, “And I’m gonna need an uninjured medic afterwards, now go!”
Blades gave him a worried look, hesitating another moment.
Blades nodded, and then scrambled across the floor to the remaining, undamaged capsule. Chase heard it hiss closed again as he reactivated it, and then he turned back to the window, looking ahead as the dark sea grew closer and closer… until he saw that in the midst of the immense sea, there was a small glow of an inhabited island below them.
:You have to be kidding me…! Primus, help me.:
His grip on the controls tightened as he pulled up, trying to adjust their trajectory just enough.
The island was slowly moving away from the Sigma’s path, but another, unlit island was ahead, and the controls were finally giving up under his hands. He couldn’t stop it from crashing, he couldn’t move it away any further.
It was all in Primus’ hands now, or the hands of whatever deity ruled over this planet.
