I still will never understand the whole facade idea/ putting up a front when it comes to Scout’s character neither the ‘insecure and constantly needing to prove himself as a tough guy’ , toxic masculinity, as core personality traits because the only ones we’ve seen doing that is Spy.

Remember, Scout was the one to say that Spy was better than him when it came to dealing with smarter, classier women. And SPY is the one who went out of his way to shove a microphone in front of his face to announce it to the entire team.

Now tell me who’s the boastful one who feels the need to prove himself all the time?

Who is the one who feels he needs to maintain a facade or certain reputation?

Who is the one literally wearing a mask?

Who is the one who we still do not know the name of?

Who hides behind his stoicism?

I’ve come to the realisation and conclusion that Scout’s character was ruined because of the extremely not canon onesided ScoutPauling I hate everything

As soon as he crushed on ScoutPauling everything was COOKED he was DONE FOR because they started to see Scout as no longer the guy he is but rather a way to use him as a way for their lonely gamer male audience to project onto him

So then they just want to promote ‘Miss Pauling is HOT hubba hubba’ via Scout

There is absolutely no other reason for Miss Pauling to say “Scout, I want you…” in a contract line then of course follow up with the very obvious declaration it’s just a contract aka. She doesn’t want to flirt with him or say ts she is being held hostage by whoever the fuck thinks that STRETCHING OUT SCOUTPAULING IS GOING TO HELP ANYBODY

The good areas is that it provided opportunity for Pauling to look somewhat cooler but it’s only at the expense of Scout being dumbed down in so many ways and her not being able to show up in the 7th comic finale

MISS PAULING NOT SHOWING UP IN THE 7TH COMIC FINALE IS A RESULT OF THE WRITERS BEING FORCED TO KEEP SCOUTPAULING AS ‘AN OPTION’ WHEN IT HAS NEVER BEEN AN OPTION

All jokes aside I hate how long ScoutPauling has been stretched out in canon oh my gosh.

I love TF2 so much but they have so many issues oh my gosh Valve

As much as I’ve unwillingly grown to enjoy Scout as a character, I really feel sometimes like the joke of Scout’s unreciprocated love for Pauling should have ended so much earlier and before that whole timeskip.

That many years and doesn’t look for the opportunity to find other women.

But, at the same time his continuous denial is so exemplary of so many straight men irl being taught that they have to ‘try harder’ ‘try again’ in old-fashioned pursuit of women.

So 7th comic Scout finally moving on and getting the opportunity to do what he really wants (instead of projecting those hopes onto the person he seems to put on a pedastal), was honestly extremely satisfying.

I’m extremely happy they let him move on, honestly.
