Trying to have fun on tf2 (pt1)
side note: I'm only playing solo atm The fun is in completing the goal, and getting the big numbers/kills and stuff which is reliant on skill and luck, of which I have neither, so I'm trying to reshift the way I think about the game into being more enjoyable, which is kinda difficult without that aspect of community play -- my two angles I'm going to be going at this from is : 1) BREAKS, tf2 is incredibly addicting, because the dopamine rush of getting a nice kill and play is awesome, so I for one still play it long after I've stopped actively enjoying the simple process of the game, my solution? Every thirty minutes I step away for ten minutes and reflect on how much I wanna play and whether or not I'm enjoying it 2) play with intrinsic motivation, set a lot of easily achievable goals which feel challenging and fun-- and write them down on a cheklist! Checklists make me happy! these are my goals for this session, they're easy and they're fun, my ideas for this stuff is: hit five enemies with scout's melee; play three rounds of engi without building anything; play spy for three rounds using only the revolver etc etc! Hopefully I'll step away from the game without feeling tired! (I do enjoy it, but literally every play session up til now I've felt kinda demoralised after I stepped away!) Documenting whether this works or not! It feels like it will, these are like simple ADHD strategies and I have had success with them in the past but we'll see!
