I mentioned the concept of "making the blorbo suffer" today to Roomie / Co-Planner. He said he doesn't want his favorites to suffer. He wants them to be happy, and that's why Shockwave gets the "happiest" storyline in this fic so far. He contributed the most to the development of him and Wheeljack.
Which is true. Shockwave gets a fantastic tiny wife (Wheeljack) and like thirteen plus giant children (the Phase Sixer Equivalent, the Science Gang, the Conbaticons, the Coneheads, and Scorponok) and only half of them hate him. Though Wheeljack would argue he has a fantastic giant wife. They are very much this meme:
