I've seen your gorgeous art of Black Dow and since you read the First Law and are also very much into Arcane, do you have any thoughts about the (admittedly largely vibes-based) similarities between the two? When I watched Arcane (esp S1) I found the humour and the way it treats its characters with both self-awareness and deep sincerity very reminiscent of TFL. Plus Vander is my faceclaim for Logen and like he basically IS AoM!Dogman like a guy who used to do a lot of fighting but gave it up to become a pretty decent dad, and Silco looks a lot like Glokta in my head. Not sure how to end this rambling/question except by saying and also do you have more plans for TFL-based fanart? 👀

First of all, I've been lurking a lot already and come across your account multiple times and I have mad respect for your dedication to these books and posting. To me you're the OG of Tumblr first law fandom (as thin as it may be). You do god's work.

Secondly, about Arcane and First Law I've gotta say immediately that YES and it is no coincidence — I got the Arcane artbook and in the foreword they outright wrote that Joe Abercrombie was one of the main inspirations for Arcane! That paired with the fact Abercrombie is a big Arcane fan himself, I find the whole business very wholesome lmao. They are very similar and that's probably why I love them both so much!

And don't get me STARTED on Silco and Glokta. Arguably my two most favorite characters of all time. I know for a fact Glokta is nr. 1, no competitors, but I gotta say Silco probably does place as 2nd. Do I have a type?? Surely not.* As for the physical similarities, yes lmao, but I'm afraid to say so because people are so quick to show up with pitchforks and shout "NOT UGLY ENOUGH FOR GLOKTA!" But, between you and me wink yes they are similar to me.

And yessss I absolutely do have more plans for more First Law fanart, I've been wanting to make some for ages but my ambitions and my artistic abilities haven't been compatible oof. Now however I'm starting to feel more confident, and I have ideas in abundance.

I sometimes imagine what it would have been like if Glokta had been given crutches. Like a proper pair of crutches that goes easy on the arms and all that. One of those you can gain some real speed with if you put your heart into it.

Like imagine him just zooming past in sports mode on those fuckers. Of course it would hurt him but what would be the difference, pain is that man's modus operandi.

I want to give another attempt at drawing him now that I've improved but I'm almost apprehensive. But I wanna make comics so bad...
