11/1 - Tell us about who you are, why you are doing this challenge and what you hope to get from it.
Hi! My name is Mareike (or Flower), and I’m from Germany. I just turned 40 and I’m a translator, working from home in a flat I share with a friend. I’m looking for a new place to live, though, for a couple of reasons including that I’d really love to have a cat! (It’s not allowed in the current flat.)
I’ve been in the Fitblr community for about 4 years now, though my struggle with my weight and my health has been going on for much longer. I have a couple of conditions that make it really necessary to get a better grip of this but that also make it quite hard: I have diabetes, binge eating disorder and depression. Food is my main challenge ...
I’m a runner and also do yoga and walk a lot. I used to go to the gym, too, but my gym had to close down due to Covid, and I haven’t found a new one yet. I also love swimming and go bouldering with friends sometimes (of course, things are different in the Plague year *sigh*).
I’m doing this challenge because John’s challenges are always great 😁! But also because I’m currently struggling a lot, my blood sugar levels are pretty bad, I’ve gained, lost and regained the same two to three kilograms all year ... I’m hoping for some fresh wind in this challenge, some new motivation and maybe some answers to questions I’ve been asking myself forever.
For today, I’ll steal John’s idea and do some cleaning in my office, too - I bought a new keyboard yesterday, so I’ll get that set up, and then I’ll find some other things to do for a total of 15 minutes. Messy as it is, there’s no shortage of that!
Given my current struggle with my mental health, I want to try and start off the new day on the right foot next week. So I’ll take 5-10 minutes in the evening to write in my bullet journal so I know what’s coming, and in the morning, I’ll make my bed and deal with any clothes from the day before to avoid them congregating into the Depression Chair Pile (TM).
