This isn't asking/giving advice Anon, getting these more often than what my blog is intended for is starting to piss me off more and more. I have deleted more asks than answered because of this exact reason. So to people that think I'm a dead account, I promise I'm not. It's just users like this that see a ToyHouse blog and instantly assume "drama blog"... I'm not-

This is also written very confusingly; How are *banned* people getting their characters back? How are people finding banned users? You also gave no proof of this happening, this is incredibly vague and confusingly typed down.

hi mod sharkie! i need some advice:

im a really big fan of the 2000s custom web page aesthetic and thus want to have, essentially, a lot of flashing gifs on my profile. only thing is im worried it will trigger a migraine or seizure for users who are hypersensitive to that kind of stuff.

even if i include a warning for it in my profile warning, these users might have warnings turned off and therefore may be triggered regardless of the warning.

should i go ahead and code my profile anyways?

Let's put it this way. If someone has migraines or epilepsy towards this stuff then they SHOULD have the warnings turned on.

I dunno who the hell wouldn't have it on actually in that condition. My eyes are sensitive to eyestraining stuff and I have warnings on due to it.

I mentally THANK users like you who actively go out of their way to give a warning that their page has what people are sensitive to! In fact I'm judging users who don't do that sort of thing.

So go right ahead, have fun customising your account and put that warning! If they wanna complain, then that's on them for either not having their warnings on despite the fact they are hypersensitive to it or just blatantly ignoring it.

Bold move but here I go

Yesterday I entered an art trade with a user: One icon of their oc for one chibi of my oc. I said I'd get it done today, but due to family reasons I couldn't start it till right now.

So I went to check their account and... it shows a "Page not found" message. I can access their adopts account no problem but their personal account, where their oc is stored, is gone to me, so that probably means I got blocked.

This is in of itself a problem, as I can't fulfil the art trade anymore cuz I can't look at the character as I forgot to save the reference sheet, but it also raises a different issues.

About a year ago, I attempted to commission an artist I've followed for a long time in other social medias. The communication went fine until, before I could tell them what I wanted, they told me that they felt weird about my profile and that they would block me, which they did.

Idk what happend. I've done commissions on th and plenty of art trades and forum games, but the fact that this happend twice concerns me. I've only been on th for 2 years so maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Now I have no idea about the trader, but the commissioner could've just finally gone on your account and seen this. Got worried that they'd be commissioned to draw one of the characters with one of these topics, and {instead of explaining why they'd decline the commission; Which they're not entitled to give, but it's still nice to know} just said they were uncomfortable and blocked you.

Other than that, I can't think of any other reason. Especially for the trader randomly blocking you. I've heard multiple stories of traders doing this in general, so it may not even be your warning system or your profile!

Speaking of:

The way that it's formatted, for me anyway, it's quite obviously a joke. But given how many {but not all} ToyHouse users take things seriously. I wouldn't be surprised if they took an obvious joke seriously.

IMO? Don't get rid of it, it shows your personality better for others checking your account. Having a bland, boring page is worse than obvious jokes on a page with this context ^^

does anyone have any tips about how to increase my adopts demand? i consider myself a "pop artist" like i do get in the first popular page, i have +1k followers and reach +50 favs per design but the bidders ain't "consistent" and i have trouble reselling my adopts when someone backs out

Ah, I'm not a "pop artist" myself at all on the site. Nor do I do bidding for my adopts, but maybe {if you have trouble reselling backed out adopts} doing an extra art piece for them would perhaps help get them back on the eyes of your clients?

50+ faves per design is a lot, even my brain can't handle that, but I can't exactly help with the "inconsistent" part. It's sadly not explained and quite vague, so it's hard to give help without knowing what you mean by "inconsistent".

With helping increase adopt demand? I'd advertise them on Discord servers, Tumblr communities involving around adopts, etc. That's how I advertise my adopts in general, as I don't exactly rely on ToyHouse for any of my income... at all.

I feel like people will know who I am, but oh well. I'm not really actually planning to do this, but I'm curious about how people would feel if somebody trained their own AI model on their own art, and ran it locally (no data center usage), and uploaded the results on TH. The TH rules don't really cover AI more broadly, though it is generally seen as improperly sourced art, which is against the rules. But in a case where all the training data was created by the user themself, that wouldn't necessarily apply. Still, even if it's not technically against the rules, I wonder if other users would still find it unethical.

I have no idea. As a whole I know AI generation isn't liked. It's very frowned upon. There's VERY few exceptions, like Neurosama. Who's ethically trained AI. I dunno how yours would be done other than the things you've given here in this ask Anon.

IMO, to make things easier for yourself and your account, I'd advise NOT to post the results on ToyHouse. You could get banned even if you state it's ethically done. And you'd most likely have a mob of users on your ass, even if it's stated it's ethical, you know ToyHouse users. There's a long history where they don't read... well- words.

since this is the advice lake now, do you have any advice for getting adoptables and commissions out there better? if making a forum post, how long should I wait before bumping it?

I tag, I use trade listings, I try to follow trends and watch what others do but I hate that the only factor I seem to be missing is luck. my adoptables aren't bad and my art is at least somewhat appealing while my prices are dirt cheap for both and yet I have to fight tooth and nail for a single sale

Yeah, sadly luck is a very big factor when it comes to this stuff in general. Patience is another thing you're forced to learn with commissions and adoptables as it can take from hours to literal years for a commission. Depending on other factors at play of course.

Another thing I should state is that pricing stuff dirt cheap is a VERY bad idea. More commissions? Yeah sure, if you're lucky. But if you do dirt cheap then you're at severe risk of getting rude/entitled clients that believe they can do whatever they and treat you however they want because you're cheap. And the moment you even try to up your prices they'll either abandon you, or demand you lower them again. Quality of 1 commission being worth £45 is better than quantity of 6 commissions being worth £7.50 in the long run. The stress is FAR less. The number of the price looks high, but it's worth it if you find a client willing to pay that much for one commission!

Okay, now side tangent over lol

When it comes to people on ToyHouse, I don't exactly go into the community. Due to this I have NEVER gotten a single adopt sold/traded or a commission that came from a client finding me in ToyHouse. And I'm fine with that, given the state of this place, but I understand that many people rely on ToyHouse for commissions/adopts.

Making a forum for your advertisements is always a good idea, potential more reach is always a good thing in a saturated marketplace! Bumping it as much as possible keeps it at the top, and while I don't know if that's going to help... it's better than nothing? Better than abandoning and letting it vanish into the back.

While following trends and popular ideas is sometimes a good idea, it can give burnout if you're not careful. Pushing out 10 thing in 40 minutes is never a good idea, especially if it's just to stay up-to-date on trends involving adopts or service ideas. While it makes you look like you've got many ideas to sell, in the end you may just have a bunch of adopts/services that aren't being sold filling up your account. Unique ideas are also a good idea, it brings a niche. A niche that hasn't been done before possibly. Which makes you unique, one of a kind at that moment in time!

Another issue with ToyHouse specifically is the fact that many users are just looking for free stuff, or demanding it. From my experience I have never sold or traded away a single adopt on the site, but the moment something's free? Snatched up, especially if they follow the simple rules. Another one is that, from what I can gather, many users on ToyHouse appear to mainly go back to the artists they usually commission or pop artists. Which, in turn, makes it very hard for other smaller artists to get anything on the site.

All in all? Don't rely on only ToyHouse for commissions/adopts being sold unless you've already got a community of clients on there making you popular in some way. I don't rely on ToyHouse at all, I just have my VGen there in case on the very very rare chance someone wishes to and isn't just trying to buy for dirt cheap. Basically all of my commissions and adopts have been sold because I advertised them in Discord servers. Sometimes there's a VERY rare chance that it's outside of Discord servers. Like how one time someone found me through my main blog and went to my VGen to buy an adoptable. And then another-
