Oh, oh, you mention perfumes in Mikkie's ask, so I'm really curious what scents you'd give for Atsushi and Akutagawa to wear?

ahhh I'm so glad you asked!! I love talking about perfumes and Atsushi and Akutagawa are such fun picks!!

Atsushi: Versace Versense and Korres Avgoustos! They're similar in that they have a calming quality to them, and both are green scents! Versense is a little citrus-y but mostly it has a really lovely woody base that's just incredibly comforting! Avgoustos was created to feel like Greece in August and it's refreshing, with a green fig, and I love that re: it being a fave of Akutagawa's! Not super serious, but there's a perfume house called Zoologist and they make perfumes inspired by animals and have one for tiger! It's more something Beast Atsushi would wear though (spicy, smokey, a little fruity)! Akutagawa: I really think he'd fit perfumes with a strong tea note, some picks for him could be Thé Noir 29 by Le Labo or Gris Charnel by bdk Parfums. However, this feels almost too tame for him, and again, maybe more suited to his Beast counterpart! For main story Akutagawa, I could see something that's a bit heavier, maybe along the lines of Encre Noir by Lalique!

Hi, i'm here again following your perfume post XD I was wondering if you'd like to elaborate on the notes you've chosen for Beast and non-Beast SSKK, if there's a special meaning or vibe or just some thoughts you'd like to share~

Oh, I'll sure try, but a lot of it is vibes if I'm being honest!

However, there's some thoughts that went into it - the vibes have to come from somewhere after all - so I'll try to articulate my musings as best as I can!!

let's start with main story sskk:

Atsushi, of all four characters, reads the least 'dark' in a sense - he's the least morally ambiguous (I do love that bsd is a story full of morally grey characters, and I don't think that there is anyone in the series that is easily sorted into good or bad, but main story Atsushi comes closest to having a morality that the narrative supports, at least in my personal opinion). His status as the white tiger and bookmark to me also has a grounding quality to it, which to me would reflect in fragrance terms as a fragrance that is calming/comforting - the woodiness of the cedar, the quiet comfort of sweet but not too sweet coconut, candied citrus and cherry blossom, the grounding smell of hay. Pear and amber are mostly there to round out the fragrance as I think a fruit note would just fit Atsushi and amber makes fragrances more full-bodied, a little warmer and heavier, which I think would work quite well!

main story Akutagawa has the biggest character development of any of the characters (Beast Akutagawa goes through a pretty big change in his story as well and it's reflected in his fragrance notes too). I wanted to give the notes some juxtaposition - something more subdued, unobtrusive (fig, tea, musk) mixed with a touch of the impulsiveness peaking through (blood orange) and something darker, earthier, unyielding to round it out (woods). I did consider other darker notes like smoke, oud, etc, but to me, those wouldn't really fit the delicateness of Akutagawa's character and how he uses his ability.

Beast Atsushi's fragrance has some of that juxtaposition, too - the wildness of the tiger (tobacco, buchu) that's not subdued the way it is with main story Atsushi, with an almost timidness (cyclamen, bamboo, the warm comfort of buchu and tobacco as well), plus the tonka bean and kumquat for some spice.

Beast Akutagawa fragrance is a little lighter than main story Akutagawa's, and a little more multifaceted to show the Agency's influence on him, being exposed to all of them and being impacted by it - but the base has musk like main story Akutagawa's fragrance to show their shared roots. The rest (yuzu, oolong tea, orris root, fig leaf, white woods) is similar to main story Akutagawa's notes but a touch softer. I did consider adding a very heavy note in the base to show how Beast Akutagawa still has that undercurrent of aggression underneath, especially re: harm coming to gin, but I'm unsure if there is one that would fit. Maybe a fragrant wood like palo santo or incense or resins!

4. Fav character/subject that’s a bitch to draw

100% Akutagawa. I don't know what it is about his features but for the life of me I cannot draw him consistently and I can just never quite get his features to look similar to how he does in the manga. I do love drawing him, but I wish I managed to capture his looks better!

12. Easiest part of body to draw

ohh depends on the drawing, but I think torso, legs and shoulders are the easiest! also drawing faces in profile come quite easy to me!

20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy

hands! not that it's always easy but I know lots of people hate drawing them, and I'm pretty neutral on it, and most of the time I enjoy it! :)
