Do you know about hornworts?
They are a division of bryophyte that grow as a thallus, with large elongated sporophytes from which they get their name
However, they have some rather odd traits. Firstly, unlike other plants, each cell has only a single plastid. This is a condition which is generally only seen in algae; adding to the algae-ness is the presence of a pyrenoid, a CO2-fixing organelle within the plastid which is only found in hornworts and algae
The weirdness doesn't end there: They can develop internal cavities which secrete hormones that attract cyanobacterial growth. This is symbiosis, the same as how lichens work, but with an already-photosynthetic plant
Their sporophyte is also kind of unusual. Unlike other bryophytes, where the sporophyte simply grows and releases spores, the sporophyte of the hornworts is persistent and can perform its own photosynthesis
Overall, these plants are just really weird
