protecting children is not a slippery slope toward total authoritarian censorship

online fandom was a huge part of my early self-expression, but there were (and still are) communities that hold pleasure so sacred that their ‘anything goes’ policy lets groomers, manipulators, and racists run rampant, and it left childhood scars ngl

it doesn’t have to be censure OR freedom; creativity can coexist with moderation without limiting the art or restricting exploration of darker subjects

looking out for younger folks isnt a punishment its just a part of growing up

it is honestly wild to me that when i make a statement of “underwire bras are uncomfortable” the first comment is INEVITABLY “have you ever gotten fitted. a well-fitted bra makes all the difference.”

...yes. literally more than once. worn the bras. still hated them.

it doesn’t have to be ill-fitting to be unnatural and invasive.

if you like your underwires, great! if you don’t experience discomfort, awesome! if you’re too self-conscious to not wear them, been there, bought the t-shirt, you’re totally fine.

but please.

stop treating these devices that are explicitly pinching and lifting and holding our bodies in decidedly UNnatural ways, for nothing more than aesthetic, like they’re a part of some health initiative.

tmi but as I approach my thirties and my peers start their families I start to realize I literally cannot prepare any child of mine for all this ??

yknow when I see my college acquaintances or strangers I follow absolutely breaking themselves inside out over production assisting or storyboarding or filming or quality assurance testing games I’m filled with such a feeling

there’s a shiny gleam to the hard knock life of artistry & entertainment but I worry sometimes about the effects and if this standard is okay despite the quality work it produces
