Okay so. Hirsch did an interview 4 months ago and a lot of stuff he said there REALLY puts into context things that happen in the book of bill—especially this one clip in particular. (Here’s the link if anyone who hasnt yet wants to watch the whole thing on their own)
TRANSCRIPT:
ALEX HIRSCH: —and also, he’s so, y’know, bill’s a trillion years old, so its like Ford disappearing for 30 years is like somebody saying they’re ghosting you and then texting you the next weekend.
INTERVIEWER: (laughing) got it.
AlEX HIRSCH: [slight Bill impression] "Ford’s gonna be back. Oh, oh, oh, we had such a big fight, Ford’s so mad at me, Oh,—" [normal voice] y’know, [continuing impression] "Our will-they-won’t-they-take-over-the-universe relationship— he’s gonna march off and huff, but he’ll be back." Because where is Ford gonna find anyone else in the multiverse who strokes his ego as well as Bill does? Is there anyone else who’s going to make Ford feel as important as Bill? No, of course not. Ford needs validation. And so Bill knows Ford is going to be back eventually.
[END TRANSCRIPT]
This is just like?? Insane?? Like holy shit, he directly quoted the relationship line that would end up being in the book but completely recontextualizes it from a perspective that isn’t Bills. It basically confirms almost every 2018 shipper’s headcanon, which is also really funny. This could also serve as potential setup for any future projects? Like, extremely extremely doubtful it will ever be a season 3, but the way Hirsch speaks about their dynamic is so interesting.
Love that you started a Wendy fanart archive blog. Been seeing a lot of art archive stuff lately so glad someone is doing that with Wendy. If you ever need any stuff to reblog, I've spent the past few months adding tags to a lot of fanart I've reblogged over the years, including a "Wendy" tag. Gravity Falls archiving is real and it will never die!🫡
So honored to have you follow my side-blog!!! :-D
Returning the favor, if you're looking for any Wendy Corduroy fanart to reblog yourself that you haven't already, I have a pretty sizable backlog over at my main Tumblr...
https://diggerofbricks.tumblr.com/tagged/wendy corduroy
... that's primarily where I'm starting off myself, re-reblogging what I've already archived & tagged over there.
P.S. If you know of any other recently-created GF "archive" blogs worth digging into, perhaps send a few my way? :-)
Hi there!
First of all, thank you so much for opening this archive to preserve people's passion on Wendy when it's possible 🫡
And as an extension of this archive, I'd like to suggest one annual event inspired by several prompt challenges on social networks...
Would you like to run something like an annual Wendy Week?
I thought it would fit what you're doing in theme terms, allowing more people to express their appreciation of Wendy
Hey there Car9723-t! :-)
Thank you so much for the offer to be a part of such an event; however, I must admit that I have no prior experience at all in running or contributing to anything like that, and I'm kinda ignorant as to what would go into helping out with such.
I've had a Tumblr account for a few years now just to access select blogs that years earlier were no problem to access without signing-in; so only in late January of this year did I decide to make further use of it by reblogging old favorites on my main blog, partly inspired by That GF Fan's own archiving efforts. In turn, doing so has helped me discover & rediscover many forgotten gems, and during such deep dives I ended-up discovering that there's a lot more fan-art of Wendy Corduroy than I thought was out there before. So, hence the creation of this side-blog about a week ago, again inspired by That GF Fan's repeated lamentations of the character's neglect by extra-canonical media and the fandom, I figured it'd be a better place to give what I've dug-up a secondary reblog rather than doing so on my main blog (plus, I was curious if a Wendy-focused blog would receive any attention by the Gravity Falls fandom nowadays).
So, this is all to say that much of my reblogging is primarily a personal hobby, but I'd still be interested to know what'd go into helping out with an organized event as proposed, it's just that I'm not sure if I'd be able to commit depending on the demands of such, as I've never been a part anything like that online.
I remember a clip from an interview a few months ago where Alex Hirsch talked about the unreleased art book and how if disney got back to him, he had the stuff together for it. The Gatsby PDF file link reminded me of this clip. Maybe somewhere behind the timer or password or something, there’s some unreleased storyboards and misc. show files. Just wanted to throw it out there as a theory
I have been mentioned! :D Watch the Video here!
The image used in the background of the Gravity Falls logo HAS BEEN FOUND!!
It's located in France!!
I made a thread on Twitter explaining the full story and how I even asked Ian Worrel and Alex Hirsch about it, but lemme run down quickly how it was found and where it is!
After 3 years of searching with some friends on and off, we had no real luck. I've been working on a video about it for a while but decided to try one more time. My friend @trickengf suggested looking at international logos as they may have more of the image available and sure enough...we found logos like the Japanese and Russian GF logo had more visible detail of the image.
From that, Tricken made a remake of the image and used it to find it. He ended up finding the source at about 3AM for me, lol!
My friend Fried Oreos then confirmed the image was old enough to fit the criteria of pre GF pilot, by determining the image was on the Textures website it was sourced from since 2008!
Then, my friend Alex M managed to buy the HD image and we were able to analyze its metadata for more info!
Turns out, the image, called "LandscapeMountains0009," was taken by a Nikon D70 camera on April 18, 2007!
THE GRAVITY FALLS LOGO IMAGE IS ALMOST 18 YEARS OLD!!
From there, we began looking for the location. The meta data had no location, but other images taken around the same time showed signs of maybe the location being in Europe.
After over a day of searching, Tricken, Alex M and Oreos FOUND IT!!
The location of the image is a mountain range near the town of Sers, France...near the border with Spain.
Exact coordinates of the closest viewable angle of the image is 42°54'23.2"N 0°06'05.6"E
This is a major discovery and one I cannot believe we did. While this search was started by me in 2021 with some friends, it was TrickenGF, Alex M and Fried Oreos who deserve all the credit for this discovery! They were the geniuses who tracked all of this down and were able to connect the dots to get to this point.
You guys are amazing and I am beyond grateful for all of this.
Finding this image means that fans can now recreate the Gravity Falls logo as they want with anything they want. For example, Tricken made this for me using the image :D
Or, you can do this, lol
We now have it!
For 12 years as we looked at the Gravity Falls logo...we were in reality looking at a mountain in France...NOT Oregon!
So, I guess this is a major W for France but sorry, Pacific Northwest, Gravity Falls is actually French, lol!
I still can't believe we found this. I'm so happy :P
Secret's out. evillordrayken; the creator of Florida Sea Watch/GF Captain's Log, gave me an ultra rare 1 of 5 physical copy of the incredible fan made Sea Grunkles Tome.
I am beyond grateful to have had this chance & thankful to them and the whole team that worked to make this happen!
This is possibly the rarest piece of fan merch I now own and I honestly cannot believe I was even chosen. I will 100% be making a more dedicated video about it down the line when I can. While everything is of course public in it, I think a look at the book and comparing it to the official GF books would be fun.
There is another person who I know who now owns this book…but I'll let them reveal that ;) And yes, this is fan made and a one off. There are no plans for more to be made. But that said, you can read all of the pages in it on the project website; gfcaptainslog.com
