I had sent an email to ao3 asking why there has been no public update on the block feature in well over a year this is the response I received:
Thank you for contacting us. As you know, our volunteer designers and coders have to balance keeping the Archive usable and responsive with adding new features, all within the framework of our limited resources. Unfortunately, this means that we are unable to add many updates frequently. Since blocking is a complex feature that will affect multiple parts of the site, we can't give a specific timeline for when it will be implemented.
In the meanwhile, there are ways to limit access to your works or not seeing works from others.

If you are being harassed, or have concerns about abuse on the Archive, please contact our Policy and Abuse team by using the link at the bottom of any page.
Just in case people were curious. It is about what I expected, but it still disappoints me that they don’t seem to understand the importance of giving us a quarterly update on the status of a block feature even if it is to tell us there isn’t a lot of news. I don’t blame the individual volunteer in the least for this, but it seems like a huge misstep for AO3 not to give us consistent updates on this feature.
