I really want to be able to go to campus just once on a sunny day in October because the part of campus where my homeschool is is so beautiful, there’s this wall that has all sorts of greenery climbing up it and in autumn it all turns red and orange and it genuinely took my breath away last year. I’d like to take a coffee from home and just sit there for an hour or two and then go home.. taking a homemade drink rather than going into a cafe makes the whole thing very very low risk

i have been working on reformatting and relaunching the volunteer program for a good two months at this point. i got back from the volunteer association conference early may and was so excited to reorganize the program to be more efficient and to be more engaged with our volunteers even when we go months without any real volunteer opportunities. the goal is to better work with them to find opportunities that fit their skills and interests and to be sure the database is kept up to date. i rewrote the form, wrote up a background check release form, and an informal interview form. i had all the forms proofed. i have been working with our computer tech regarding getting the form on our website. i created flyers to be posted online and around town that include a bit.ly address to the new online form.

first i only work 20 hours a week and some weeks i have a lot of program prep or time spent running a program so i am not able to work on other stuff. then everyone keeps taking long ass vacations. the person that proofreads was gone for about a week. then it took ages of slow ass emails with the computer tech. and then he was away for over a week. and now i am waiting for my director to approve the online form. i have literally been sitting on this shit for a good month waiting for the people that i need to interact with to actually be at work.

meanwhile last weekend was a big program i had intended to bring in new volunteers to help with AND in about a week and a half we have a big downtown event that we will be apart of and i intended to bring in new volunteers to that too

it has been like pulling teeth since day one to run the volunteer program. usually i ask the department supervisors for projects for volunteers and no one has nothing. so this ridiculousness is really not a surprise.
