One of my coworkers returned to the office after a court settlement regarding child support. He asked me how long it would take for withholdings to start coming out of his paycheck.
I'm not in HR, but he knows that I have connections with our HQ office, so he came to me with questions.
He mentioned that his lawyer is very good, but that she's only 28. So I responded by saying, "Good for her."
He went on to say that he noticed she wasn't wearing a ring on her left ringfinger, so he asked his lawyer if she was seeing anyone.
I shook my head & laughed at him (inside, I was grossed out that he's that kind of person).
He clarified that he wasn't trying to ask her out but was curious if anyone was even trying to date her.
I gave him a weird look, so he continued to explain himself. He meant that a woman lawyer can't date or marry just anyone. She would have to marry a male lawyer with as much knowledge or greater than her. He added that he could never marry a woman who had the legal know-how to "put (him) under a bridge," meaning a spouse who had enough legal expertise to "take all of (his) money and leave (him) homeless."
To paraphrase him: To give a woman knowledge gives her the power to hurt a man.
Ladies (gn), go get your law degree.
Gain all the knowledge & understanding you can, in whatever field or area of life. Try to know as much as possible.
Don't let anyone tell you it will hold you back or make you less attractive if you're smart, knowledgeable, competent, or POWERFUL.
Make evil people fear doing evil.
If they're afraid of you understanding the world, you know who you're dealing with.
