- hunter, arcstrider - was present during the battle of the twilight gap, at which time - seeing the casualties and the sheer number of guardians throwing their second lives away for the city - he became disillusioned with the vanguard and the guardians as a whole. - weeks after this, laurens found himself leaning further away from the city and the guardians and everything that life entails - he didn’t agree with their methods and didn’t understand waging war on other races. fighting the fallen never sat right with him - even when he was ordered to do so. - he joined a fireteam, only to watch them killed before his eyes on their third or fourth strike together. their ghosts gone and their bodies reduced to ash before his eyes. laurens didn’t work with anyone else from that point on - so, eventually, he left. he upped and left the tower, went awol and didn’t even inform his higher ups of his whereabouts - currently, laurens is living a somewhat nomadic lifestyle out in the wilds. he didn’t take a ship with him so he has no means of leaving earth as he forbids his ghost (ice) from using her abilities to help him in any way. if he’s injured, he doesn’t let her heal him and he doesn’t allow her to use her transmat anywhere. she’s more company than anything with an actual function at this point in time - really, he spends a lot of time making trouble for guardians that venture too far from the tower or too deep into eliksni territory. he has killed guardians, has cut them off from their ghosts and wouldn’t be against doing it again if he had to - laurens has had people sent after him on bounties before, is generally very untrusting and despises any mention of the tower
