Just a thought, please comment if you think I'm wrong, but when Katniss came to Peeta's defense against Haymitch. Yk where she draws the knife between his fingers to warn him to never touch Peeta. I feel like at that moment she was drawing her knife against Mrs. Mellark. In her mind, it's Haymitch but also Mrs. Mellark. Like in some way, it's payback for Mrs. Mellark hitting this kind-hearted boy. She's letting out that anger she might have felt towards Mrs. Mellark in this scene. There's something so personal in this part.
