Sure! It was really a bunch of messages, so I don’t think I found everything (I remember more about her potentially being abusive). But there are one or two reblogs/replies to the posts for different perspectives.
One | Two | Three | Four
Basically, people have different opinions on whether Mel was abusive or exactly how similar she was to Maris and how similar Niles’ marriage to her would be to his one with Maris. I don’t think there’s one single right answer, especially because we’ve never even met Maris or seen most of her relationship with Niles. A lot about both Mel and Maris are up to interpretation.
Life After the ‘70s: Cooking with Jackie
prompt pitched by @that-basket-case
Have you ever consider compiling all of your comics into an actual (comic) book?
Nope. But the cost of printing over 3000 comics (many of which have fifteen panels) into an omnibus ... yikes. 🤑😬
What if "Get of my boyfriend" never/didn't happened?
I mean like how would the kelso-entitled-possessive-behaviour thing (which is to an extent reasonable cause j was his first but a very, VERY slim, miniscule, un petit, bare minimum) can be resolved? Without the motive of tv exec/showrunners using this as clickbait (it's not the right term but you get what I mean, i hope lol) to pull and keep audiences attention (kelso's interference making the whole triangle thing an actual thing *smh* 😔).
How would JH's relationship progress in the long run? (Senior year, graduation, post graduation, turning 18, young adulthood and so on)
If Jackie had been aware of her lingering feelings of possessiveness for Kelso and worked through them in a healthy way -- or if she hadn't had those feelings at all, which is a distinct possibility considering all she'd experienced since "Kiss of Death" (2x20), then Jackie wouldn't have blurted out, "Get off my boyfriend!" at Annette in "Your Time Is Gonna Come" (5x13).
I chose to start with the above preface (and premise) for context.
Once Annette goes back to California, without having sex with Kelso -- since she makes clear in "Going to California" (5x01) that this isn't going to happen -- Kelso's pursuit of Jackie would continue. Previously, he'd tried giving her gifts, playing to her ego, and then making her jealous. All those schemes failed, so he'd come up with an even more insidious plan.
Since Kelso's attempts to draw Jackie's affections back to him flopped, he'd try to destroy Jackie's attraction to Hyde. He'd start with sharing the nasty things Hyde used to say about Jackie when Kelso and Jackie were dating and how Hyde tried to get Kelso to dump her. When that doesn't work, he'd try to plant doubt in Jackie's mind about Hyde's fidelity to her. Kelso would know that's a sore spot for her; he's the one who'd created it.
This scheme would create a reversal from Hyde being insecure about Jackie's feelings for him (vs. Kelso) to Jackie being insecure about Hyde's commitment to her and their relationship. This doubt would create conflict between Jackie and Hyde, and -- if written in-character -- Hyde, once he gets over his initial annoyance at her lack of trust -- would seek out advice from Eric, Donna, Fez, Kitty, and Red about what to do (similar to "Black Dog" [5x09]).
To the audience, his commitment to Jackie would be clear, but he'd have to figure out how to reassure Jackie about how deeply his feelings run for her. This would take him confronting his own insecurities and allowing himself to be vulnerable with (and to) her (as he is in "Cat Fight Club" [2x25], though more explicitly).
The writers, unfortunately, didn't connect J/H's S1-S3 relationship to their relationship in S5. This would have to happen, however, for Jackie and Hyde's relationship to continue. Hyde would sit Jackie down in private, in his room, and their conversation would go something like this:
Would you ever consider doing a "Jackie's Long Way Home" ? I'd die if you do. What would the plot be? 🤔
Hi! Someone asked me a similar question five years ago. My answer: Jackie’s Long Way Home: What If Jackie Had Been Trapped in the Time Loop Instead of Hyde in My Fanfic Hyde’s Long Way Home?
Was "Zen" or the concept of it ever mention again after "Cat Fight Club"? I don't remember it being so.
Yup. In "The Promise Ring" (3x25), Hyde and Fez are cruising for dates. The dialogue of the relevant scene is as follows:
Fez: Hello, ladies!
Hyde: No, man, that’s not how you do it! You gotta be aloof.
Fez: Did you just call me a loof? Because if so, I’ll have to kick you in your 'nads.
Hyde: No, man. Aloof. Distant. Zen.
Have you ever done a food diary for the characters? Or do you know if anyone has done it?
So far the most common thing I know is that Jackie loves deviled eggs and of course, she'll accept a cheeseburger wrapped in tin foil. While Hyde hates caramel but likes mint chips ice cream, loves beer (unfortunately, in a unhealthy amount) and loves peanut butter cookies. Fez obviously candy is number one.
It would be cool if there's a list out there for each character.
I haven't. I also haven't seen anyone else make one, but I do have some canon-based headcanons (if that makes sense, lol) for what the characters like to eat. I use those for writing fanfic. Here are some more of the characters' food faves from the show.
Eric, Hyde, and Red all enjoy pork chops.
The love of heart-healthy bacon (😂) seems to be universal among the characters.
Hyde's favorite cookie is peanut butter chocolate chip. His favorite soda is cherry cola, but root beer is his second favorite. His preference for cherry flavor is also mentioned in one of Jackie's T7S Diary entries (from T7S's original website when the show originally aired). He enjoys roast chicken.
Kelso's favorite Popsicle flavor is ORANGE!
Fez loves candy, but chocolate is likely is favorite. He got addicted to dipping chocolate candies into Hershey's syrup. Hyde performed an intervention by taking the can of syrup away from him (season 4).
Bob likes salty and sweet flavors.
And so on. 😄
