Can I ask what your setup is like? I'm trying to make a neocaridina planted tank but I'm struggling to figure out substrate.
YES! I have found what works the best (for me) has been a layer of soil on the bottom, I use fluval stratum, then I topped it with regular black aquarium sand. for educational purposes I’ve done vice versa in another tank, but I have had the best success with plants when the soil is underneath the sand! In my very first shrimp tank I only had white sand. I like the sand for them because I can see them a little easier 🦐
Beyond that I just have a lot of plants + decent lighting, I like coralife’s clip on planted aquarium light a lot, I have significantly better plant growth in the tank with that light versus the regular aqueon lights
