I need to get something off my chest and you're one of the only people I know that will take this seriously, sorry for the rant.
So I'm taking this Mythology class at the local community college (I wanted to take a class about race but it wouldn't count for my degree for some reason). The first two modules after the introduction are about Greek Myth. The next module is about Norse Mythology.
The current topic we are supposed to be studying is called "Non-Western Mythology". It lumps Egypt and the entirety of North, Central, and South American culture. Of course, the slides didn't actually say that. They said "Amerind". The presentation states, in bold case, that North American Indigenous societies "were not very complex, lacking writing and the rudiments of higher culture".
The cherry on top? The first sentence of the writing assignment reads "You have just discovered an uninhabited island utopia".
I am so pissed at how blatantly racist this class is.
So uh yeah, land back pleaseeee
