"Soooo.... I heard it was someone's birthday today?" Steven inquired, though he was already certain of the answer. In fact, he'd already gone out and made sure to do a little baking for him. The cake itself was sitting on the counter in the beach house, just inside from where they were standing. (thatuniverseboy)

“Hm?” Sunstone looked up from the book he was reading. Well, it was skimming over more than reading. He quirked an eyebrow at Steven’s comment before chuckling a little. “To be honest, Steven, I really don’t know when my um, ‘birthday’, is in relation to Earth’s year span. Hell, I can hardly even remember when I emerged, heh.” 

He set the book down and smiled at him. “But I always get a familiar feeling around this time of year, so I kind of consider it my ‘birthday’. Must be my gut telling me this is around the time I emerged.” Indeed, it always in mid summer that he felt unusually sentimental, and even older in some strange way. “I’m guessing you had something in mind?” He asked with a wink. @thatuniverseboy

@thatuniverseboy It had been... A long time. But Zircon was used to that. She usually had to wait for a long time between job assignments. Her kind weren't exactly necessary. They were all common anyway. She was common. If they, her superiors, needed a new Zircon and not her... She didn't blame them. The dust-covered gem sat against the wall, legs crossed. The sun peeked through the ruins, the smell of strawberries light under the heavy foliage. They'd come back. She'd repair the ruins. They told her to stay put. So she did. Even if there was a war going on... But now, things were quiet.
