Oh great mage Parivir, bless us with your wisdom! I haven't played much, but already love this game and can't live without it so bear with me: which types of magics would make a great combination? Like, which ones complement each other in you opinion. Sometimes I like to combine spirit and thaum or thaum and enchantment, but I'd like to know what you'd go for. Also, have a good day and take care of yourself.

In the ideal version of the game design (which, realistically speaking, probably won’t be achieved), you’d be able to mix-and-match any two (three if you’re pushing your luck) magical disciplines and they’d pan out equally well given some proper planning. That being said, rationally speaking alchemy and thaum probably have the best synergy together, as the former has a lot of utility out of combat while the latter has nearly none.

On that same utility-combat sliding scale, spiritism and enchantment would be somewhere in the middle. Spiritism has mostly combat applications aside from Spirit Gate, so it’s probably nearer to the thaum end, while enchantment is closer to alchemy. So I would perhaps discourage combining thaum-spiritism and enchantment-alchemy, as these schools may have quite a bit of overlap and therefore solve the same stat checks.

That being said, the principal design motto for this game is very much ‘many roads to Rome’, so taking into account as well your non-magical stats and the aid of your allies, there will always be more than a few ‘right’ ways to solve an encounter/stat check. I’d say just go for what you like and see how it pans out!
