PARENTALIA IMVOLPALLITIST: A person with the inability to decide on a Halloween costume
This phenomenon has been studied on practically every Halloween and costumed festival of evil spirits since 1412, including Día de Muertos, Obon or Zhongyuan Jie. While it is clear that the main point of a costume is to blend in with the spirits wandering the earth (are you sure the person stood next to you is really your neighbour out just for sweets?), many people feel that exactly the right costume is necessary or the spirits will either become suspicious or, when required, not be scared off by the disguise.
People who cannot pick one particular costume are often the cause of the most haunted department stores as their spirit continues to wander the racks of unusual attire long after the original celebration was over. Some people are known to a have lost their mind trying o find the right outfit, and then solved the problem by dressing up as an insane asylum inmate. Other try to wear more than one, which often results in the hairiest vampire with long, pointed hats you’ve ever seen. And those who decided they have nothing to wear go out wearing it.
