Thalia finds Hawke's big muscly body hot. LMAO. Also he does have a handsome face; it is enhanced by the beard, however.
I think it might be weird to say "Hawke is more attracted to her personality" but to some degree I think that's true. I think he finds it hot that she's a smart and rational person despite all the insanity she's been through. That's hard to pull off, he should know!
That said, I think he does like a redhead. He thinks the short hair suits her better than the long and makes her look very cute. (This is especially interesting to me because both Cullen and Blackwall think it's sort of a travesty she cut her hair after Trespasser – something something Hawke is more likely accept her after everything she's been through? IDK)

I think they both tease each other about various things; I think this is sort of interesting that it comes up when they're both being too serious? Like they're not precious about each other's failings haha – I think that's definitely a departure for Thalia because she lionized the other two men in her life in various ways. She doesn't have stars in her eyes when it comes to Hawke – I think because they've walked in similar shoes.
